Red Meat Increases Diverticulitis Risk
 
Red meat increases the risk for diverticulitis, an inflammatory bowel condition, according to a study published in Gut. Researchers followed 46,461 men from the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study. Those who consumed the most unprocessed red meat increased their risk for diverticulitis. The increased risk was 18 percent per serving per day.
