Eating Soy Instead of Dairy Benefits Health and Economy

Plant-based dietary patterns that exclude dairy and include soy prevent major chronic diseases and impart a large financial savings on health care, according to new research presented at a conference in Brussels. As part of a systematic review, study participants who replaced dairy products with soy reduced their risks for several types of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. The presenter, a professor of health economics, emphasized the gains were not only in health but also in the economy.
