Class Dates

How Foods Fight Heart Disease
Monday, September 8, 2025 6 PM to 7 PM

This class focuses on the number one cause of death among Americans - heart disease.  The greatest advance in the understanding of heart disease was the discovery that this disease can be virtually eliminated by controlling lifestyle factors.

High LDL (the “bad” cholesterol), high triglycerides (a type of fat), and low levels of HDL (the “good” cholesterol) are among the problems that increase heart disease.  Research has shown that a plant based diet that has no cholesterol, is low in saturated fat and rich in fiber can actually remove the plaque that has build up in the arteries over time and can help protect the body from heart disease and hardening of the arteries.

This class will provide individuals with nutrition education as well as a cooking demonstration and taste testing of easy to prepare, budget friendly recipes that are delicious and health promoting!
