Food for Life Instructor

Louise Cohen-Silver, Ph.D.

A lifelong animal lover and vegetarian for more than 50 years, Louise Cohen-Silver discovered the power of a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle after improving her own health through a 40-pound weight loss, lowering her BMI, cholesterol, blood pressure, and arthritic inflammation. Today she is a licensed Food for Life Instructor teaching more than 30 evidence-based classes on using nutrition to help prevent and often improve chronic diseases including heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and certain cancers. Louise is also a Certified Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator, a Main Street Vegan Academy graduate, and holds a Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate through the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell. With a Master's in Deaf Education and a Ph.D. in Counseling, she creates engaging classes for children and adults in both hearing and Deaf communities. Through PlantPowered PNW, she offers classes, cooking demonstrations, community events, and workshops that inspire people to improve their health through the power of plant-based living.
