Plant-Based Diets Reduce the Risk of Cancer
Plant-based diets reduce the risk of developing cancer, according to an analysis of 17 studies. Both vegan and vegetarian diets were found to lower overall cancer risk. Vegetarian diets reduced colorectal, colon, and breast cancer, and likely reduced several others. Fewer studies examined vegan diets, but they still showed reduced breast cancer risk from avoiding animal products. No increased risk was found for colorectal cancer.
