High-Fat Diets and Processed Meat Linked to Sleep Apnea

High-fat diets and consumption of processed meats and other animal-based products worsen sleep apnea, according to a study published in the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine. Researchers tracked dietary habits and severity of symptoms for 104 obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) patients. Those who consumed high-fat diets experienced more severe sleep apnea when compared to those who consumed diets with less fat. Dairy consumption of more than 2 servings per day and processed meat intake also worsened symptoms.
