Eating Meat May Increase Risk of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm

Trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is a compound produced when gut bacteria digest choline and carnitine, both of which are found primarily in meat and other animal products. A new study found that higher levels of TMAO in the blood increased the risk of abdominal aortic aneurysms, a potentially deadly cardiovascular condition.
