As a community pharmacist, Tammy saw patients struggle daily with chronic conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and obesity, and she felt frustrated by her inability to help beyond medication management. After many years of flirting with a vegetarian diet, she adopted a vegan diet in January 2010 after reading The Kind Diet by Alicia Silverstone. The resources shared in the book led her to discover the Physicians Committee and the wealth of evidence supporting the health benefits of a plant-based diet. This cemented her commitment, and she became a passionate advocate for plant-based nutrition as a means to prevent and reverse disease. Tammy is delighted to have the opportunity to share her knowledge with others and support their plant-based journeys as a Food for Life instructor.
