Amanda Zelek, PharmD, DipACLM
Food for Life Instructor

After multiple family members experienced life-changing events including heart attacks, stroke, dementia, and the medication burden accompanying chronic diseases, Dr. Amanda Zelek began researching if this family medical history would truly be her health destiny. Surprisingly, an entire area of research was discovered dedicated to preventing, treating, and reversing chronic diseases through Lifestyle Medicine. Although never taught in the pharmacy doctorate program nor residency training, but interested in learning more, Amanda enrolled in the Complete Health Improvement Program (CHIP) and witnessed firsthand patients requiring decreases in medication dosages and some discontinuation of medications all together by their physicians as biometrics and lab results improved.
Inspired to help others, she obtained certifications in Plant Based Nutrition (T. Colin Campbell) and Lifestyle Medicine (American College of Lifestyle Medicine), facilitated CHIP, and is now a licensed Food for Life Instructor for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
Amanda’s passion to educate on Lifestyle Medicine is ultimately to empower others to make sustainable life changes, to enhance the quality of life for themselves and their families, and to add more LIFE to years!
