Introduction to How Foods Fight Diabetes
Thursday, June 25, 2026 06:00PM to 07:30 PM

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth and focus on the culture and traditions of the African American community. This curriculum provided by a licensed Food for Life instructor connects these ancestral ties and introduces plant-based adaptations of “soul” recipes. The conversation will center on the benefits of a plant-based diet. These recipes are healthier choices that address dietary related diseases that disproportionally impact the community.

The cooking demonstration will show how plant-based foods can be delicious, cost effective and play an important role in improving blood sugar levels and prevent complications from diabetes. Participants will receive handouts of easy and affordable recipes that can be prepared at home.
