A diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits – without animal products - can help prevent and fight diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other chronic diseases! By following this lifestyle, many people have also reported disease reversal. The curriculum is based on the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine’s successful 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program.
Depending on one’s perspective, the Kickstart is about losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight, or simply embracing an overall healthful diet. Participants will learn that there is no need to weigh or limit food amounts when choosing the right foods for losing weight and staying healthy. Benefits include lower cholesterol, better diabetes control, and lower blood pressure, as well as improvements in digestion, energy and mood.
Class topics include food choices, food seductions, the nitty-gritty of food preparation, and eating out. Attendees are encouraged to adopt a completely plant-based diet following the 2nd class, for the following 21 days. Results are likely to be immediate and impressive!
According to previous local participants, "It is totally worth it!"; Very well done and you get dinner/lunch."
Each 2 hr. class features group catch-up, a video lecture, discussion, and the opportunity to taste plant-based dishes, following cooking demonstrations. Everyone receives written materials including all recipes. Ideal for people interested in preventing or fighting any diet-related condition, and wanting support to try out a plant-based diet.
The instructor is physician and licensed Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine Food for Life instructor, Dr Nora E. Hanke.
