This African American Culinary Heritage class series will feature culturally connected healthy and delicious recipes for the meals of the day, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus recipes for special occasions (cook outs, holidays, other events). Introduce the concepts of plant-based eating for preventing and treating heart disease, obesity, cancer and diabetes by using food as medicine while providing African American History lessons along the way of African American influencers/ancestors that have contributed to the soul food we eat today. In this cultural and historic rich series we are paying homage to our ancestors by connecting back to the roots of West Africa in eating a primarily whole food plant-based diet, thereby taking southern traditional soul food dishes (created during slavery) and converting this dishes into 100% healthier versions of soul food that are sure to be crowd pleasers.
