Introduction to How Foods Fight Cancer
Wednesday, June 15, 2022 05:00 PM to 07:00 PM

Certain diet patterns seem to have a major effect in helping people diagnosed with cancer live longer, healthier lives. The National Cancer Institute research shows that as much as 33% of cancer risk may be related to diet. In this class, you will learn about the right food choices that can help reduce the risk of developing cancer as well as prevent a recurrence.

Plants can make a big difference in your cancer risk.  We'll learn how to incorporate vegetables, fruits, legumes, and grains into your diet.  The fiber in plants will make a difference in your cancer risk and in many other aspects of your health!

The class will include the following:  handouts, video, question and answer time, cooking demonstration, food samples, resources to peruse, and a group of people who are learning, too. This class will also feature a science-based nutrition video, an interactive discussion led by a health and wellness expert, and the opportunity to view 3 cooking demonstrations. Recipes include Easy Bean Salad; Veggies in a Blanket; and Black Bean Dip with Baked Tortilla Chips. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers. You will leave this class knowing how food is medicine!
