PCRM's Food for Life: Diabetes Initiative is being offered by Durham, NC-based Dilip Barman (bit.ly/FFLPromo) as a 6-session class January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 11, and 18 from 6:30-9p at the beautiful new Sancar Community Center in Chapel Hill, NC. PCRM Food for Life classes (fflclasses.org) feature a trained instructor like Dilip who is expert at preparing whole food plant-based vegan food and discussing nutrition.

In each of the classes we begin by general discussion, watch a nutrition video, then move to the kitchen where Dilip will prepare a variety of easy, healthy, chef-designed vegan whole food plant-based dishes. Students get to eat the food as their evening meal and go home with recipes and more information.

A significant percentage of Americans are diabetic or pre-diabetic. Even for students who aren't in these categories, the class will present overall health promoting food ideas and menu planning strategies.

As Dr. Neal Barnard says, "

“A plant-based diet is a powerful tool for preventing, managing, and even reversing type 2 diabetes. Not only is this the most delicious ‘prescription’ you can imagine, but it’s also easy to follow. Unlike other diets, there’s no calorie counting, no skimpy portions, and no carb counting. Plus, all the ‘side effects’ are good ones. ”

Neal Barnard, MD, FACC, President, Physicians Committee
