Early in the pandemic, research found that people catching the coronavirus were much more likely to succumb to it if they had an  underlying  health  condition,  such  as  diabetes,  obesity,  or  hypertension.  However,  the  role  of  a  plant-based  diet  in  preventing  and  reversing  these  underlying  conditions  was largely absent from virus mitigation discussions. Food for Life’s Cooking to Combat COVID-19 delivers important nutrition information for optimal health to people who need it most during the pandemic and beyond.

In this class/workshop we will discuss recent research regarding pandemics and how diets can mitigate viruses, prevent and/or reverse heart disease, diabetes, and depression, and help one lose weight. The PLUS in this class/workshop is that all participants will have the time and opportunity for Hands-On Learning. Each participant will suggest a recipe in advance, that they will then be preparing. The students will benefit under the guidance of a Food For Life Instructor who can offer tips and tricks for culinary adventuring and success. The class/workshop will culminate in a sumptuous repast when all can enjoy and recap the day's experiences. Bon Appétit!
