Foods and Breast Cancer Survival

This bonus class looks at the research behind increased prevention and survival rates for those individuals diagnosed with breast cancer. Factors discussed include reduced fat intake, increased consumption of vegetables and fruits for a greater fiber intake, and exercise. In the lecture, Dr. Neal Barnard highlights various studies like the Women’s Healthy Eating and Living (WHEL) Study, which reported greater protection from breast cancer when women consumed at least five vegetable and fruit servings daily.

In this 90 minute class attendees will learn about the right food choices that can help reduce the risk of developing cancer as well as preventing recurrence. We will enjoy educational cooking demonstrations of 3 delicious healthful dishes, reviewing useful handouts and recipes, all in a supportive online group setting.

Based on the Cancer Project The Power of Foods for Cancer Prevention and Survival by Neal Barnard, MD, FACC,

Dietary choices have a surprisingly effect on our health. Learn that health-promoting foods, recipes, and meals can be easy, convenient and tastes great! Each class includes live food demos and hands-on cooking with Stefanie's in-depth food prep knowledge, Q&A, recipes, educational materials all in a supportive group.

Recipes are designed to work for people on a budget who may also have minimal time or access to equipment. More importantly, every class and each ingredient supports a low-fat, plant-based diet plan that has been proven to prevent, manage, and in some cases reverse chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune disease, obesity, and even some forms of cancer.

This event is hosted by Plantspiration® and taught by Stefanie Ignoffo, a Licensed Food For Life instructor with the Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine.
