Cooking To Combat COVID-19 a Food for Life Program

Description

Black and Latinx individuals have been especially hard hit by COVID-19 due to several factors, including health care disparities, the prevalence of underlying conditions, and a disproportionately high rate of infection by the virus. We aim to reach these vulnerable populations by offering classes targeting urban communities of color and taught primarily by persons of color.

Learn powerful nutrition and cooking tips with this research-based program developed by the Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) team of physicians, nurses, and dietitians.  Since, 2001, PCRM has delivered its innovative, hands-on Food for Life program to communities around the world.  These classes have proven to help people prevent and survive chronic diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, also focus on weight management, employee wellness, and children's health.

Each 4-week course will be limited to 25 participants to ensure a high-quality learning experience. We will aim for more registrants per course to allow for attrition to reach an ideal class size of 25. The goal is to reach a primarily non-vegan audience. All are welcomed.
