October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and in honor of this I am rolling out the Evidence Based Food For Life Cancer Project classes! Join myself and Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine to fight this together!
A healthful diet and lifestyle can help you reduce your risk of breast cancer. That’s right. You don’t need to rely just on screening to find cancer. You can take four simple steps to make it less likely to start in the first place, or less likely to come back if you’ve already been diagnosed: Choose plant-based foods, exercise, limit alcohol, and aim for a healthy weight.
Chances are these steps will improve your health in other ways, too! You can cool inflammation in your body, reduce your risk of diabetes and heart attack, and feel better than you have in years
In this class we will learn about both antioxidants and the body’s immune system are critically important in fighting cancer. Cancer-fighting compounds such as antioxidants, mainly found in fruits and vegetables, assist in halting free-radical damage, which can otherwise lead to cancer development. Healthy weight control is also essential for warding off a variety of chronic diseases. Studies have shown that slimmer people are less likely to develop cancer, compared with their heavier counterparts. Trimming excess weight may also improve survival after cancer has been diagnosed. In this class, the instructor will discuss and demonstrate healthful dish-es loaded with immune-boosting nutrients such as beta-carotene, lycopene, vitamin C, and zinc—helping you learn how to easily and naturally maintain a healthy weight and a cancer-fighting nutritional regime.
The Food for Life: Cancer Project classes offer a unique opportunity to acquire knowledge about the link between diet and cancer, experience the benefits of plant-based nutrition, and learn the practical cooking skills needed to help you on your journey to better health. In the Food for Life: Cancer Project classes, attendees do all of this while enjoying a cooking demonstration and tasting delicious, healthful dishes.--
