On September 22nd, we will be starting Cooking to Combat COVID: a 5-week class series designed for anyone motivated to make major changes in their diet to improve health. The program covers food choices that can help to lower weight, blood sugar, and blood pressure without the need for measuring portion sizes or counting calories. We know that these risk factors play a major role in worsening cases of COVID-19 in patients who contract the virus. But the good news is that they can be improved through the power of your plate.

Each class will include group discussion, engaging video lectures, quizzes, a cooking demonstration of 3 recipes as well as resources to keep you motivated at home.

When: We will meet Tuesdays starting September 22nd from 4-6 pm. The class will run through Tuesday October 22nd.

Where: Class will be held in the Seabiscuit Conference Room of Howard Memorial Hospital or online using Zoom.

Format: To comply with social distancing guidelines, in-person participants will be limited to 5 people. There will be room for 15 additional participants to take the class online. Online participants will be able to engage in class lectures, discussion and observe cooking demonstrations but will not be provided with food samples. In person attendees will be required to wear masks.

Cost: In person-participation will require a deposit of $50, while online participation will require a deposit of $30. The deposit will be returned to those who attend 4 out of the 5 sessions.
