Antioxidants which are mainly found in fruits and vegetables are critically important to halt free-radical damage and boost immunity. This class will explore foods that are rich in protective compounds and immune-boosting nutrients such as beta-carotene, lycopene, vitamin C, and zinc. Studies have demonstrated the ability of diets rich in vegetables and fruits to boost immunity. Based on scientific research, those eating a plant-based diet (in this case vegetarians) have approximately double the natural killer cell activity (natural killer cells engulf and destroy cancer cells) compared to non-vegetarians. Learn how to prepare a colorful, scrumptious, immune-boosting meal.
In this class, attendees learn about nutrition while asking questions and enjoying cooking demonstrations, all in a supportive online group setting. Recipes and handouts will be provided prior to class. Pre-registration is required at least 24 hours in advance. Early Bird and Buddy Discounts are available.
