The novel Coronavirus has been diagnosed in over 1 million Americans. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has advised that people with underlying health conditions such as diabetes, coronary heart disease, chronic lung disease, hypertension and obesity are among those at greater risk to have severe outcomes from this disease.

This special DC Food For Life - Cooking to Combat Covid-19 has been designed to help participants use a plant-based diet to fight hypertension, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity—which are among the conditions that can make COVID-19 more severe and deadly. This series will be held online to empower individuals on ways to improve or prevent chronic disease(s) linked to poor Covid-19 outcomes. This online series includes cooking demonstrations of 4 recipes per class that have been created by chefs to taste great and that include commonly available ingredients including fruits, vegetables, whole grains and beans. Each class also includes information about the health-promoting benefits of plant-based diets, which have been scientifically-proven to prevent and reverse many of the underlying health conditions that are so concerning at this time. Take control of your health!

This 2-week program begins Saturday, August 22 and is $25 per person per class. Class size is limited. Class participants should be from the Washington, DC region.
