"Vegan 101: Intro to Plant-based Eating"  This 1-hour Co-op Owner Education event will introduce the audience to a Plant-Based diet!

Your instructor, Leslie Duram, of Carbondale, was recently certified as a Plant-Based Educator by the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine (www.PCRM.org). She is a Food for Life Instructor offering award-winning cooking class programs that provide hands-on information about the direct role of plant-based nutrition in health. As a Food for Life Instructor, Leslie shares a true passion for empowering community members with knowledge about the benefits of plant-based eating.   https://www.pcrm.org/good-nutrition/plant-based-diets

This Vegan 101 program will introduce topics including health benefits, environmental issues, and personal choices that motivated Leslie’s shift to being vegan 8 years ago. In terms of health, Leslie will describe the decades of research showing that a plant-based diet can help you reach a healthy weight and lower your risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and other chronic diseases. She will mention the popular 21-Day Vegan Kickstart program, developed by PCRM. In fact, these low-fat plant-based recipes, developed by chefs, dietitians, and experts in vegan cuisine, provide nutritious meals that are both healthy and delicious. Once you get a Kickstart, you will see results and won’t look back!
