Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Dean Ornish, M.D. and Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn were among the first to show that a change in lifestyle could be as effective as and much safer than bypass surgery for those with significant heart disease. The World Health Organization says hypertension (high blood pressure) is “the most important preventable cause of premature death in developed countries.” The good news is that blood pressure changes happen quickly, and plant-based diets help lower high blood pressure within a short time frame. There is no time like the present to eat to live. Fortunately, food that is good for you does not have to taste like medicine.
This is combined program including nutrition education from 2 PCRM Food for Life classes - Keeping a Healthy Heart and Healthy Blood Pressure - along with a Valentine theme to remind us to love ourselves and take care of our hearts and the hearts of those we love. Sample 5 delicious recipes (including Valentine-worthy dessert) in 3 hours.
