Originally from Iowa, Dr. Howard spent her formative years in Germany before moving to Texas in 1975. She graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas with bachelor's degrees in biological sciences and German. She attended Baylor College of Medicine for medical school and residency in internal medicine and pediatrics. She has been in practice in the Texas Hill Country since 2003.

She is board-certified in internal medicine, pediatrics, and lifestyle medicine. She is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Pediatrics and a diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She enjoys cooking plant-based meals, traveling, photography, birdwatching, and reading. She is fluent in German. Her passion is helping her patients take charge of their wellness and encouraging them to embrace a whole food, plant-based diet. As an ethical vegan, she seeks to align her lifestyle choices with a love of animals, people, and the planet.
