Survey of Live Animals in Surgery Training
The Physicians Committee is actively surveying all general surgery residency programs in the United States and Canada to determine their training methods.
Currently:
- 78% of responsive programs use only human-relevant training methods, like medical simulators and human cadavers.
- 284 programs use only nonanimal training methods
- 8 programs use live animals
