Survey of Live Animals in Emergency Medicine Training

The Physicians Committee is actively surveying all emergency medicine residency programs in the United States and Canada to determine their training methods.

Currently:
  • 97% of responsive programs use only human-relevant training methods, like medical simulators and human cadavers.
  • 267 programs use only nonanimal training methods
  • 8 programs use live animals
