Anna Herby, DHSc, RD, CDCES, is the nutrition education program manager for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting preventive medicine, especially better nutrition, and higher standards in research.
Anna chose to specialize in plant-based nutrition out of her own curiosity about the vegetarian diet she decided to follow at the age of 10 years. After learning more about the topic, she discovered that a plant-based diet is the most powerful way to reverse and prevent chronic diseases. Seeing patients lose weight, improve energy levels, and reduce their needs for medications inspired her to learn as much as possible about plant-based nutrition.
Anna also provides outpatient nutrition counseling and facilitates a variety of community education programs at Adventist Health Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, Calif.
Anna is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator who works with patients to help prevent and reverse chronic diseases through nutrition. She completed a doctorate in health sciences with a focus in nutrition from the University of Bridgeport and earned her master's degree in nutrition from Bastyr University in Seattle, Wash.
