Petra taught nutrition education at Fort Bragg Unified School District from 2005-2015 through the USDA SNAP-Ed program. Since 2013, she has worked with youth on various community health projects including the Rethink Your Drink campaign through the local public health department with the same USDA SNAP-Ed funding program. During the 2013/14 school year, she cooked healthful plant-based dishes with 120 sixth graders at Fort Bragg Middle School. During the 2014/15 school year, she taught the Kids Health curriculum at John Riebli Elementary School in Santa Rosa, Calif. She is the 2015 Champion for Change for Mendocino County, Calif. Petra teaches healthy weight management and diabetes classes at Safe Passage, a family resource center in Fort Bragg.
