Calling All Artists!

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is holding a digital art show and poster competition!

Over 19 million children and adolescents receive meals from the National School Lunch Program every day. School lunch is a critical opportunity to offer nutrition and to encourage lifelong healthy eating habits. Plant-based meals at schools are becoming more commonplace, but dairy milk continues to be a mainstay, even for students who can’t digest it. The federal government requires schools to offer fluid milk at lunch in order to collect reimbursement. In fact, a law is in place that prohibits the promotion of any drink other than dairy milk at school. This law does not consider that 65% of adolescents are unable to digest lactose, and many others may be looking for healthier options, such as water. Dairy milk is high in saturated fat and sugar, and its consumption is linked to increased risk of type 2 diabetes and certain cancers. The current federal law ignores students who struggle to digest lactose and continues to promote unhealthful drinks in schools.

Help us spread awareness through art!

We are calling for artistic, creative flyers or posters for parent and student advocates to use in classrooms, cafeterias, and school events to raise awareness about this inequitable law.

Let your voice be heard!

We are looking for posters with catchy taglines and eye-popping designs for this new campaign. Will YOUR art be seen on the walls of cafeterias across the nation? Please help us spread the message! The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is holding a digital art show and poster competition! Deadline is midnight March 20, 2023!
