Engaging Researchers in Animal-Free 21st Century Science

Become a Catalyst for Animal-Free Research

Who?

The SciComm Catalysts program empowers students, early-career researchers, and scientists transitioning to human-based methods to convey complex nonanimal research with ease. Whether you are studying, working with, or simply interested in new approach methodologies (NAMs) like organs-on-chips, organoids, in silico modeling, or AI, this program helps you communicate effectively about the replacement of animal use in medical research and regulatory testing.

What?

Participants will bridge the gap between complex animal-free research and public understanding by creating accessible, accurate, and engaging materials for nonexpert audiences. Gain hands-on experience by:

  • Writing short Innovative Science News posts about breaking research.
  • Drafting and placing op-eds on topics like how NAMs are transforming the scientific landscape or ethical issues related to animal experimentation.
  • Organizing speaking events at home institutions to showcase animal-free research.

Why?

Honing science communication skills is crucial for professional development. Build your SciComm portfolio, effectively explain the impact of your research, expand the reach of your work, and support the global shift toward NAMs and other human-based methods.

When?

This is an unpaid, volunteer opportunity with no set time commitment, making it easy to fit into busy research schedules.

Where?

The program is entirely remote and open to participants worldwide.
