Fruits, Veggies, and Exercise Boost Happiness

Eating fruits and vegetables and getting enough exercise can boost happiness, according to a study published in the Journal of Happiness Studies. Researchers compared diet and sports activity with life satisfaction measurements for 40,000 participants from the UK’s Understanding Society Database. Those who exercised more and ate more fruits and vegetables reported more happiness overall than those who exercised less and ate fewer fruits and vegetables. The authors attribute the increased happiness to the ability to see long-term benefits of these healthy lifestyle factors. These results remained significant across income levels, gender, age, education, and rural and urban areas.
