Reversing Polycystic Ovary Syndrome - September 30, 2020, 6:00 - 8:00 pm via Zoom

Polycystic Ovary Disease (PCOS) is caused by a slight excess of androgens. These extra hormones can cause irregular periods, skin changes, polycystic ovaries, and infertility. They can also change body fat patterns and reduce insulin sensitivity. This leads to rising blood sugars and sometimes diabetes. In this Food for Life class, we’ll review the causes and symptoms of PCOS and diabetes and show how to combat them with healthful food choices.

Based on the book Your Body in Balance: The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health by Neal Barnard, MD, FACC, this class explains the latest research and offers a new approach to treating, preventing, and even curing many of the most common and persistent hormone-related health problems. Dietary choices have a surprisingly powerful effect on hormones and the problems they cause; come learn more in this two-hour class featuring a video, discussion, and cooking demonstration of delicious plant-based meals!

The basic class format is as follows:

  1. Welcome – 10 minutes
  2. Video Lesson – Up to 20 minutes
  3. Quiz/Discussion – 10 minutes
  4. Cooking Demonstration – 50 minutes
  5. Resources & Recipes – 10 minutes
  6. Questions – 10 minutes
