The Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act:
A Capitol Hill Multimedia Exhibit
Many chimpanzees have spent decades in laboratory cages.
The Great Ape Protection and Cost Savings Act (H.R. 1513/S. 810) could change their fate. This critical legislation would phase out invasive research on chimpanzees and allow all federally owned chimpanzees to live their remaining years in sanctuaries.
This exhibit documents the ethical and scientific reasons for supporting the Great Ape Protection Act, which could help chimpanzees and modernize medical research.
These photos were also on exhibit in the Rayburn House Office Building on Oct. 28, 2009.
