Presentation: MIMIC System and Applications
William L. Warren, Ph.D., is CEO and founder of VaxDesign Corporation, which specializes in creating a surrogate in vitro human immune system to accurately assess new drugs and vaccines in a more predictive and physiologic way. In this capacity, he has developed relationships with the federal government, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, and nongovernmental organizations, such as the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Prior to this, Dr. Warren was president of Sciperio Inc., where he developed state of the art water desalination and water from air technologies. He also directed a diverse portfolio of research and development programs as a program manager at Defense Advanced Research Project Agency in the Defense Sciences Office and was a principal member of the technical staff at Sandia National Laboratories.
Dr. Warren has received three R&D 100 Awards for nonvolatile memories, micro-dispensing systems, and a surrogate human immune system, the 2009 Governor’s New Product Award, the Schwartz Business Innovation Award, the BioMarker Award, the Industry Week Innovation Award, the Discover Magazine Award, and several outstanding paper awards. He is on the board of directors and scientific advisory boards of several companies and organizations (e.g., Florida’s Blood Centers, bioFlorida), and a founding member of bioOrlando and bioArabia.
He is the author of over 180 referred publications, the editor of three conference proceedings, has over 180 scientific presentations, and over a dozen patents or patent applications.
Dr. Warren received his Bachelor of Science (honors) and doctorate degrees in engineering science from The Pennsylvania State University.
