Writing to a Health Charity That Still Funds Animal Experiments
Writing to health charities that continue to sponsor animal experiments
is one of the simplest and most effective ways to raise your concerns.
Here are five points to keep in mind when writing:
- Let the charity know if you are a former supporter:
"I have donated to your organization for many years, but
can no longer continue to do so."
- Simply and clearly express your concerns about animal
experiments:
"I have made a decision not to support any charity that funds
animal experiments. There are more humane and more effective ways
to improve human health which deserve my support."
- Let the charity know that when it stops funding animal
experiments, you will consider donating again:
"Please inform me if you permanently cease funding animal
experiments, as I would again consider giving."
- Let the charity know that many others join you in your
concern:
"Polls have indicated that a majority of Americans prefer
to support health charities that have an explicit policy of not
funding any animal experiments. Many health charities fund no
animal experiments."
- Tell the charity about others you know who will not
donate because of their concerns about animal experiments:
"My colleagues at work share my concerns and our office has
chosen not to support your charity until we are assured you no
longer fund animal experiments"
Tip: If a charity that funds animal
experiments calls you for a donation, be sure to voice your concerns:
"I cannot support your charity because it funds animal experiments.
Please pass my concern on to your supervisor."
