Animal Experimentation Issues

Two Ways to Stop Animal Experiments Funded by the March of Dimes

1. During the last weekend in April, the March of Dimes holds its annual national fundraiser, WalkAmerica. Since its beginning, WalkAmerica has raised more than $1 billion for research programs that include shocking animal experiments. You can help educate the public about the March of Dimes by distributing PCRM's flyers to WalkAmerica participants. Order WalkAmerica leaflets.

2. You can also make a big difference by asking the March of Dimes' sponsors to support charities that do not fund animal experiments. Recently, the PepsiCo Corporation and Sara Lee Corporation announced that they do not support the use of animals in experiments. These companies are restricting their March of Dimes donations to ensure funds are spent on relevant, human-based research and education programs. This is wonderful news, and we need your help to encourage other companies to follow their lead.

Please approach your local March of Dimes sponsors or write to any of the national sponsors and ask them to support only charities that provide direct care and services or fund quality research. At the very least, ask them to do as PepsiCo and Sara Lee have done and restrict their March of Dimes donations to programs that do not involve animal use.

PCRM is creating a registry of local March of Dimes sponsors that visitors can use for letter writing. Please help us by clicking here.

See our Charities Campaign for additional information on the March of Dimes or contact us to receive a packet of information by mail.
