PCRM Seeks Nominations for Dissection Alternatives Award |

|
Each school year, educators and students who realize the value of nonanimal learning methods take great leaps to adopt educationally superior alternatives to animal dissection. In 2009, PCRM’s inaugural Cut Above Awards for Dissection Alternatives will honor an educator and a student who have implemented humane, nonanimal alternatives to dissection. The winners will each receive $1,000, as will their respective schools.
Nominated educators will be considered based on their use of nonanimal learning methods in place of animal dissection and live animal experiments in the classroom. They will also be evaluated on the quality of the information they provide to students about the importance of alternatives to dissection and live animal use.
Students must demonstrate their efforts to replace dissection and live animal use with nonanimal methods; the actions they took to promote or expand a dissection choice policy; and how they increased the understanding, acceptance, and availability of nonanimal learning methods among educators and peers.
Award winners will be notified by December 15, 2008. They will be announced to the media in January 2009 and featured in PCRM’s quarterly magazine, Good Medicine, and on PCRM.org.
To nominate a student or educator for the Cut Above Awards, please complete an online nomination form at www.DissectionAlternatives.org by December 1, 2008. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged.
