More than 66 percent of Americans are obese or overweight, and millions are suffering from diabetes, heart disease, and other illnesses—and unhealthy eating habits are a key part of the problem. PCRM’s newest public service announcement, “Med School,” lets viewers know that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and other vegetarian foods can help fight disease.

Med School PSA“Med School”—a takeoff on today’s popular TV medical dramas—shows interns on hospital rounds, working to diagnose patients and prescribe the right treatment. When their resident shows them a colorful array of photos of fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains arranged on an X-ray light board, the interns learn that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and high-fiber foods is an effective tool to prevent and manage cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and other diet-related illnesses and conditions.

The PSA provides a toll-free number (877-VEG2DAY) that viewers can call to order a free resource guide that includes nutrition advice as well as easy-to-prepare recipes to get them started on a healthy eating plan. Viewers are also directed to www.NutritionMD.org, where they can learn more about using healthy diets to prevent or manage disease.

“Med School” is one of several PCRM PSAs playing on TV and radio stations across the nation. View them all. >>
