Show Your Passion for Compassion: Join PCRM’s Art of Compassion Gala
PCRM’s 25th anniversary Art of Compassion gala is next month. With the star-studded guest lineup and breathtaking location, this gala promises to be an extraordinary event—complete with dozens of special guests, awards, and entertainment. But celebrating a quarter century of achievements and looking ahead to new successes is the gala’s true purpose. And it’s not too late for you to take part.
Gala chairs Kathy and Tom Freston bring high-powered energy and a heartfelt commitment to making PCRM’s celebration a memorable event. Kathy is the best-selling author of The Quantum Wellness Cleanse and healthy lifestyle guru, and Tom has been a leader in the entertainment industry for decades. Cindy Landon has opened her stunning Malibu estate as the setting for the celebration. Plans are under way to turn her canyon retreat into PCRM party headquarters for one special night.
One of the biggest stars of the night will be the food. Chef Tal Ronnen, author of The Conscious Cook and chef for Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi's wedding, is orchestrating the evening’s plant-based menu. Nanci Alexander, who created the award-winning Sublime restaurant in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will donate her mouth-watering, vegan key lime cheesecake and coconut cake recipes.
World-renowned artist Peter Max created the original artwork to commemorate PCRM’s anniversary. And the gala auction will feature donated items—such as vacation getaways, spa services, special celebrity packages, and restaurant experiences—that will help raise proceeds to benefit PCRM’s programs and campaigns.
Although the gala is sold out, you can make sure that you are included in the festivities—and most importantly, support PCRM’s mission—by buying a virtual ticket. It includes a listing of your name in the same program booklet that features supporters such as Alec Baldwin, Katherine Heigl, Ricky Gervais, and Tobey Maguire. You’ll also get a copy of the program booklet and a specially packaged commemorative DVD highlighting the evening’s most special moments.
If you are a medical professional—or just someone interested in learning more about plant-based diets for disease prevention and management—you’ll also want to register to attend Vital Signs: Plant-Based Diets in Clinical Practice, the continuing education program that will be held at the gala host hotel on Saturday, April 10. Featured speakers include Dean Ornish, M.D., John McDougall, M.D., Larry Kushi, Sc.D., Mark Messina, Ph.D., and Neal Barnard, M.D.
