dog Animals Win in Texas; Wisconsin Falls Behind
Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine and its affiliated Scott and White Hospital have joined the growing list of schools that no longer use live animal labs in education. Meanwhile, PCRM spent February continuing its efforts to encourage the Medical College of Wisconsin to choose an alternative to killing 60 dogs in a first-year physiology course at the end of the month. Jonathan Balcombe, Ph.D., an animal behavior expert and research scientist with PCRM, spent three weeks in India on a 10-city speaking tour on animal sentience and other topics from his book Pleasurable Kingdom: Animals and the Nature of Feeling Good.
