Author Spotlight: Brent Jaster, M.D.
Brent Jaster, M.D., is a family physician working part time in a medically underserved clinic in Denver and a consultant to physicians wishing to implement group medical appointments in their practice. Dr. Jaster was one of the primary authors of the Nutrition Guide for Clinicians.
Dr. Jaster’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer while he was in medical school. At that time, he became extremely interested in alternative approaches to supporting one’s health. He saw that nutrition was often thought of as an “alternative” aspect of medicine, and he wanted to change that.
“I want to bring the power of the plate to my patients. There is so much information to assimilate in medicine, so a guide like the Nutrition Guide for Clinicians is very powerful because it is concise, yet comprehensive,” Dr. Jaster said. “It will be a boon for medical students, primary care physicians, and even specialists interested in using nutrition with their patients.
