New Tools for Cancer Prevention and Survival
In January, cancer surpassed heart disease as the number one killer
of Americans under age 85. The new statistic brings even more meaning
to the important work of The Cancer Project.
To learn more about how a healthy diet can help you and your family
beat cancer, please visit The Cancer Project’s recently redesigned
Web site. You’ll find everything you need to put the power
of foods to work: simple and delicious vegetarian recipes, fact
sheets, and summaries of recent studies on diet. The site also includes
a free downloadable version of The Cancer Project’s comprehensive
new manual for cancer survivors, The
Survivor’s Handbook: Eating Right for Cancer Survival.
(See PCRM Marketplace
to order a hard copy.)
CancerProject.org also offers the most current information on The
Cancer Project’s popular Food
for Life nutrition and cooking classes. The series focuses on
how a healthy and delicious vegetarian diet can help prevent cancer—and
perhaps even improve cancer survival. Begun in Washington, D.C.,
the classes are quickly expanding throughout the country. Sponsors
have included the Lance Armstrong Foundation, Whole Foods, PacifiCare
Foundation, A Sparrow’s Song Foundation, and other nationally
recognized organizations.
