Replace Processed Meat Products with these Wholesome Foods

 

Hot Dogs

  • Instead of a hot dog, choose a veggie dog.

Sausage

  • Feeling like Italian food? Rather than pasta with sausage, substitute chopped butternut squash, which is loaded with vitamin C and fiber.

  • Instead of a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich, try hummus, sprouts, and tomato on a toasted everything bagel.

Bacon

  • Rather than bacon bits, top your salad with slivered almonds. Almonds are a good source of calcium!

  • Pass on the bacon cheeseburger and go for a portobello mushroom burger, which is rich in B vitamins!

  • Instead of a BLT, try a CLT: cucumber, lettuce, and tomato sandwich topped with Dijon mustard.

Deli Meats

  • Instead of deli slices on your sandwich, substitute cucumbers, pickles, and tomato slices.

Pepperoni

  • For pizza night, substitute roasted red peppers for pepperoni.
