Golden Carrot Award
2014 marks the 10-year anniversary of PCRM’s Golden Carrot Awards!
This award was established in 2004 to recognize food service professionals who do an exceptional job of improving the healthfulness of school cafeteria offerings. This year’s recipient was Public School 244 located in New York City, which has completely stopped serving meat in the school lunches. PCRM looks for programs that encourage kids to eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables and that offer plenty of vegetarian, low-fat, whole-grain, and nondairy options.
