Hoop Dreams: How Healthy School Lunches Can Improve Child Health and Reduce Health Care Costs
Nov. 18, 10:30 a.m. to noon | Rayburn House Office Building B339/B340 | Washington, D.C.
Basketball star John Salley is the first person in NBA history to play on three different championship-winning teams—and now he’s aiming to score for students’ health. In a free Capitol Hill event, John Salley will join Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., celebrity chef Lauren Von Der Pool, Elizabeth Kucinich and Neal Barnard, M.D., of PCRM, and Washington, D.C.-area students to discuss how improving school lunches could reduce the nation’s health care costs. The briefing will also feature free food samples and a chance to get a basketball signed by Salley.
