Marketing Manager
PCRM’s Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and overseeing marketing plans for PCRM and its affiliated organizations including its branding, its products/services, and all marketing materials from concept to delivery. Work with Development, Communications, and Web departments to ensure that all communications and outreach efforts dovetail. Identify national and local health events so that various campaigns can be in congruence. Manage logistics and marketing for weekly, monthly, annual events. Build relationships with other nonprofit organizations, foundations, and sponsors.
Primary Areas of Responsibility & Specific Duties:
Cancer Project Initiatives-
- Brand and market nationwide Food for Life Cooking Classes for Cancer Prevention and Survival-
- Oversee target cities for classes and appropriate host sites such as hospitals, supermarkets, health clubs, community centers, fortune 500 corporations, and retirement communities.
- Refine and evolve as necessary: sales kit and letter of agreement defining the role of The Cancer Project and the host organization.
- Train new instructors on marketing to venues; and maintain contact with nationwide network of instructors on marketing techniques and oversee approval for new venues.
- Work with Communications department to promote nationwide classes through media outlets and local cancer centers.
- Act as product manager for organization products such as-
- The Survivor’s Handbook
- Food For Life DVDs
- Fun giveaways: Bookmarks, posters, flyers, promotional items (pens, etc.)
- Brochures
- Fact Sheets
- Doctors’ Waiting Room Kit
- Order forms
- Surveys
- Return envelopes
- Manage the event planning, speaker line-up, marketing, and execution of The Cancer Project’s annual Cancer & Nutrition Symposium and the annual Instructor Summit held in conjunction.
Diabetes Initiatives-
- Package and promote diabetes education services and products, including cooking demonstration programs, message board, live CME programs, DVD(s), speakers bureau, etc.
- Partner with outside agencies/organizations and support efforts to post PCRM-generated content
- Promote web-based materials such as NutritionMD, Nutrition CME and other diabetes resources to healthcare professionals
- Create promotional materials for use at public and professional conferences
- Promote weekly webcasts to the public and source sponsors for the webcasts, including seek out advertisers and help in advertising design and placement
- Source grant opportunities
- Contribute to strategic planning
Other Responsibilities-
- Initiate and negotiate relationships with corporate partnerships/programs/collaborations and partnerships with other nonprofit organizations.
- Collaborate with development department on branding and marketing of fundraising campaigns including PCRM special events
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
Education-
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred
Experience-
- Minimum of five years relevant experience in Marketing, Public Relations, and Event Planning
- Experience in a nonprofit setting preferred
- Experience with media relations a plus
Skills-
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to be a persuasive advocate for the organization’s mission
- Ability to plan multiple initiatives efficiently, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines and in a very fast-paced environment
- Superb leadership and teamwork capabilities
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite
- Resourceful, assertive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to develop solutions to any identified problems or issues
- Professional skills, demeanor, and work ethic
- Ability to maintain a sense of urgency, efficiency, and flexibility
Other Requirements-
- Enthusiasm for organization’s mission
- Ability to travel occasionally for business development purposes
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Interest in developing new competencies as needed for the responsibilities of the position
Terms of employment: Full-time in PCRM’s Washington, D.C., office (Friendship Heights neighborhood/metro)
