About the Communications Team

The Physicians Committee’s Communications team works to maximize publicity for our campaigns, programs, and research studies through traditional and social media. Every month, we reach an average of 10 million people online through our website and on social media.

About this Career Opportunity: Communications Assistant

The Physicians Committee is looking for a Communications Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Helping maintain the many moving parts of our communications projects that result in dramatic increases in the number of people who are exposed to our lifesaving message
  • Writing and proof-reading under time constraints
  • Monitoring and tracking media hits
  • Cultivating our growing list of physician and celebrity spokespeople
  • Thinking of new solutions to make the overall communications team more efficient
  • Assisting with coordination of both internal and external communications team events
  • Preparing check requests
  • Filing, scheduling, and maintaining documents and spreadsheets
  • Monitoring our subscriptions
  • Working with our vendors
  • Occasionally covering the office reception desk

This is a full-time position located at the Physicians Committee’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.

The communications department is fast paced, ambitious, and tenacious – we are looking for a team player who will tackle their work with a sense of urgency, persistence, and vigor. If you share these qualities and are passionate about the Physicians Committee’s mission to promote plant-based nutrition and alternatives to the use of animals in research, education, and testing; are meticulously organized; have a background in communications and marketing;, are an avid reader of the news; love writing and researching; have an interest in digital communications and social media; and are able to handle competing priorities, then we want to hear from you.
