Heart Health Speakers

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine is launching a Heart Health presentation at service clubs around the country.

PCRM seeks individuals who strongly believe in the relationship between a vegan diet and a healthy heart to deliver this message at service clubs in their community.

Requirements:

  • An interest in vegan diets as prevention and treatment for heart disease.
  • Ability to represent and convey the benefits of a vegan diet to the audience (If you’re not vegan yourself, try it for two to three weeks. If you’re not sold on its benefits, then this opportunity may not be right for you. More information about vegan diets.
  • Public speaking experience
  • Each presentation requires your time to locate a venue and schedule a speaking date (we will offer suggestions to guide you, but ultimately you will be making the contact to set up each engagement), attend the meeting and present a 10 to 15 minute speech (we provide the general information to be addressed in the speech), and answer questions posed by the audience.
  • Transportation to the venue
  • An e-mail address and access to the Internet
  • A short video (approximately 5 minutes) of yourself giving an oral presentation. The video can be homemade and can be staged using our Heart Health speech or any speech you deem appropriate. The video must be VHS or CD/DVD format. Current PCRM spokespeople and Cancer Project cooking instructors are exempt from this requirement.

How to apply:

To apply to be a Heart Health speaker, review the requirements above. If you meet these requirements, download, complete, and submit the following application and authorization/waiver form:

Heart Health Speaker Application (PDF)
Background Check Authorization/Waiver Form (PDF)

Unless you are a current spokesperson for PCRM or The Cancer Project, you must submit a video in order to be considered.
