Internships

The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) is a nonprofit organization working toward effective medical practice, research, and health promotion. For the last 26 years, PCRM has led the way for reforms of federal nutrition policies, and our clinical research programs are breaking new ground in diabetes, cancer, and other serious medical conditions. We have fought for an emphasis on prevention, higher ethical standards in research, and scientific advances in basic research and effective drug development. We have worked with physicians, federal regulators, politicians, researchers, educators, students, and concerned citizens. And we have so much more work to do.

PCRM offers a variety of internships at different times throughout the year. These internships are often hosted by departments such as Nutrition, Marketing, Legal, Communications, and Toxicology and Research.

Internships for Academic Credit

As a part of PCRM’s overall commitment to educating students and professionals about the benefits of a plant based diet, PCRM occasionally opens its doors to students seeking a work environment in which to develop their skills and obtain academic credit or meet licensing requirements for field work.

Nutrition Internship

PCRM is presently able to host nutrition/public health students seeking a work environment in which to develop their skills for academic credit or to meet licensing requirements for field work. Interns will have the opportunity to be mentored by PCRM’s staff dietitians and get involved with clinical research and other activities promoting good nutrition such as literature reviews, data analyses, development of educational materials, outreach to the public, or other activities depending upon program/licensing requirements.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should be pursuing studies related to nutrition or public health and have an academic or licensing requirement for field work.
  • Applicants should have a strong interest in learning about vegetarian/vegan nutrition.

Terms: PCRM is presently open to internships of various durations, schedules, and start dates. PCRM is located in the (metro accessible) Friendship Heights neighborhood in Washington, D.C. Housing accommodations may be available if needed. PCRM’s academic internships are not available as employment.
