The Art of Compassion
25th Anniversary Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine

Honorary Committee

Having grown up in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Wichita, Kansas, with a classically trained pianist mother and a rock ‘n’ roll disc jockey father, the one-word-named firebrand Gooding redefines the term "do-it-yourself."

A composer by day and rocker by night, Gooding has released over a dozen solo records, penning every tune and playing every instrument. He has performed over 600 shows in 60 cities, helped rebrand CNN, CNNi, and PBS, scored commercials for several Fortune 500 companies, and placed over 100 songs in film, TV, and DVD, such as VH1’s Critics' Choice Awards 2010 theme song, Walk the Line, The Matrix: Revisited, The Closer, and Ice Age 2.

Gooding has done it all without any major label backing, relentlessly building up his indie label (S3 Records) and creating an 850-song publishing catalog (Kingdom 2), that he owns lock, stock, and barrel.

A “loud and proud advocate for the little guy in the fight,” Gooding has been a vegetarian/vegan for 15 years and sites his animal-free diet as a major source of the energy it takes to power through his schedule of a dozen shows in a half-dozen cities (per week) and nonstop radio and TV interviews.

Throughout 2010, Gooding will support his new album The Return by playing a unique 50-state tour.  Not only will he perform in every state in the union, he will record short films at every stop so that fans can ride alongside the band through every state line.

Gooding is also a supporter of Operation Hope’s 5 Million Kids initiative, in which he is a celebrity ambassador alongside Quincy Jones, with the mission to teach inner-city youth about financial literacy and make “smart sexy again.”
